The Rescue diver course expands your knowledge of diving, increases your level of diving skill, and makes you more aware of what is happening around you in the diving environment.

Rescue Diver Certification is a prerequisite for the Divemaster rating, and the distinguished Master Scuba Diver Certification. Most importantly, rescue training can help you save lives and increase diving safety by preparing you to respond properly to diving emergencies and near-emergencies.

To complete the course there are 12 basic scenarios to be practiced in order to assist other divers, training in self-rescue skills , and a class room portion which includes self study, lectures, and a final exam.

Topic areas include: First aid for Diving Maladies, First Aid for Marine injuries, Emergency procedures, Rescue equipment, Panic Syndrome, Distress Recognition, Self- Rescue, Rescue Entries and approaches, Transporting, Submerged Diver rescue, Missing Diver Procedures, In-water Artificial Respiration, Equipment considerations, Rescue exits etc.

Course Duration
The Rescue course takes a minimum of 3 days but generally we ask that you set aside at least 5-7 days so that weather and other circumstances can be addressed.

Obtaining the proper materials and completing the self study prior to starting the course can impact the time required in the class room.

PREREQUISITES FOR ENTERING THE COURSE

To qualify for participation in the course, a person must be at least 15 years of age (or 12 years of age for Junior Rescue diver) and certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver. An individual who does not hold this certification may take the course if he can prove equivalent competency. Equivalency in this case would be defined as proof of certification beyond entry level and a minimum of 20 logged dives, documenting experience in the area of deep and navigation.

CPR / FIRST AID TRAINING
We provide First Aid / CPR training various courses including:

  • PADI First Responder course
  • SDI CPROX Administrator Course.

Prior to awarding the Rescue Diver rating to an individual, the student must have successfully completed a CPR/First Aid course within the past two years.

First Aid is a basic training course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency care. TheĀ First Aid course is eight hours in length.

Topics covered include:- Primary Assessment, CPR, obstructed airway, bleeding, wounds and bandaging, shock, illness assessment, stroke, allergic reactions etc.
